  • A Trail to Every Classroom (TTEC) (posted 2-9-07)

    Calling all teachers! ATC and the National Park Service announce their Trail to Every Classroom program for 2007. If you live or work in Western Maryland, Jefferson Co. West Virginia, Southern Pennsylvania or Northern Virginia, you may be eligible to apply for this great new program. Download the brochure for program details.

    The MARPC met at the Taconic Outdoor Education Center in Cold Spring, NY over the Veterans Day weekend (November 10-12). PATC members are encouraged to read the minutes of the meeting, and review the issues of regional interest.

  • Realizing a Dream:  The Great Eastern Trail
    Have you heard about America's newest long distance trail? Called the Great Eastern Trail (GET), it will run from the Alabama-Florida border to New York State. The trail will use existing footpaths to the extent possible, connecting them together with new trails where necessary. The Great Eastern Trail will form an alternate to the Appalachian Trail. PATC's Tuscarora Trail will be part of the Great Eastern. North of us the Tuscorora will connect with the Mid State Trail in Pennsylvania via the Link Trail, and south it will connect with the Allegheny Trail in West Virginia via a new connecting trail. PATC is one of the prime movers in the GET, and is responsible for the longest new connnection, from the Tuscarora to the Allegheny, a distance of 159 miles. The Club is scouting the connection, and will soon begin building new trail. A web site for the GET is being set up at
